Eligible parents and carers across Renfrewshire are set to get new support to boost their income-with £21 million of funding aimed at assisting families into better-paid work.

The Scottish Government unveiled a package of targeted support through colleges and training providers which is designed to help people at risk of poverty learn new skills while juggling family life.

A key part of the plans includes a £9m fund offering flexible training opportunities for parents and carersalongside extra help with childcare, travel and study costs.

Ministers say the move is aimed at removing some of the biggest barriers stopping people from improving their earnings.
