The C-listed Abbey Mission Hall in Paisley is set to be transformed into a trio of apartments after plans were given the green light by Renfrewshire Council.

The project, which will include demolition of the rear hall and conversion of the front building in Lawn Street, has been granted the relevant approvals, subject to conditions, by the local authority.

The job will also involve the construction of a two-storey extension to allow the overall site to become three flats with gardens.

A bid for planning permission and listed building consent, which was brought forward by Rankin Architects on behalf of the Kirk Session of Paisley Abbey, was rubber-stamped at Tuesday's planning and climate change policy board.

Councillor John McNaughton, an SNP representative for Paisley East and Central: "As a local member - it lies within my ward - I very much support the proposal.
