Factory once stood on store site

This is an area which has undergone some dramatic changes.

The photograph from 1960 shows the old Brown and Polson premises on Falside Road.

The starch works factory was the scene of one of Paisley's darkest days when an early-morning explosion killed five young men in June 1964.

The explosion occurred just before 7am as the night shift and day-shift workers changed over.
