Renfrewshire clubs will be looking to make their mark in the South Challenge Cup which kicks off today

- COLIN PATERSON

Renfrewshire clubs will be looking to make their mark in the South Challenge Cup which kicks off today.

Five of the area’s sides are in first-round action as the West of Scotland League (WoSFL) largely takes a backseat.

Junior Cup holders Johnstone Burgh will be keen to add to their trophy cabinet but Murdo MacKinnon’s men have been handed a tough test.

It’s a trip to West Lothian to face Bo’ness United who are just a point off the top in the Lowland League.

Burgh’s WoSFL Premier Division rivals Arthurlie will be looking to end a rollercoaster week with victory over Second Division leaders Bellshill Athletic at Rockburn Park.

William Dyer’s troops followed up a heartbreaking 3-2 defeat at Glenafton Athletic with a late win by the same scoreline over Rutherglen Glencairn.
