Bridge reopens after delay to repair work

Renfrewshire motorists were driven to distraction after delays to repair work on the Erskine Bridge.
The bridge finally reopened on Tuesday morning after a planned upgrade scheme ‘overran’ by more than a day.
Traffic Scotland provided an update that the A898 Erskine Bridge was still closed northbound on Tuesday with no estimated time being given for its reopening.
However, Amey - who had been carrying out the improvement works on behalf of Transport Scotland - later confirmed the route had at last reopened to the relief of those who rely on using the landmark River Clyde crossing.
