BATTLING BUDDIES REFUSE TO YIELD TO RANGERS
Paisley Daily Express
|April 28, 2025
St Mirren showed great character to bounce back twice and gain a point after Conor McMenamin came off the bench to make an impact.
Skipper Mark O'Hara cancelled out Cyriel Dessers' opener with McMenamin levelling the game after Nico Raskin gave the Gers the lead in the second half.
The Ibrox club started the game in a sluggish manner with several slack passes and unforced errors.
Just shy of the 10th minute, O'Hara robbed John Souttar of the ball in the Gers half.
The skipper was supported by Mikael Mandron and Jonah Ayunga with it being three on two in Saints' favour, however, the 30-year-old couldn't find the cutback.
A minute later, the Buddies were on the attack again through Declan John who cut in from the left before finding Killian Phillips.
The Irishman used a clever bit of skill to beat Souttar before trying to find Mandron at the back post but keeper Liam Kelly clutched the ball out of the sky.
The two missed chances nearly cost Stephen Robinson's team as, moments later, Dessers had a golden chance to give the visitors the lead.
