Iain's labour of love BY RENFREWSHIRE COUNCIL LABOUR GROUP LEADER IAIN MCMILLAN
Snow and ice Renfrewshire is ill prepared for winter weather
I hope you all had a good time over the festive period and enjoyed some time with your families and friends.
As things get back to normal in the world of Renfrewshire politics, we are starting to receive our agendas for our board meetings which start next week.
Of course, the council budget will also be getting looked at by the Labour group and will be very much dependent on how the Scottish budget fairs in the coming weeks.
Eighty per cent of the council's budget comes from Holyrood so their decisions will have a huge impact on our future plans for Renfrewshire.
We, at this point, don't know if the Scottish Government will impose any cap to council tax rates and although the Labour group were not happy with record-breaking increase last year, imposed by the SNP, we certainly believe it's for local councils to determine their council tax rates and certainly not for the Scottish Government to dictate to local councils.
