Blanc hails chef as 'one of the best'

RAYMOND BLANC has named a Lancashire-based chef as "one of the best in the world".
Raymond, 75, has trained some of the best-known chefs in the world, including the likes of Heston Blumenthal and Marco Pierre White. His Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons restaurant in Oxfordshire boasts two Michelin stars.
But he believes a chef based near Ormskirk is one of the best. Chorley-born Mark Birchall's Moor Hall restaurant in Aughton has three Michelin stars.
It is one of only 10 venues in England to win the prestigious honour. Raymond discussed Mark's culinary skills on the Great Company podcast with Jamie Laing.
He said: "One of the very best chefs in the world now is called Mark Birchall. He's absolutely amazing.
