Due to the adverse effects of climate change, there is a great variation in the temporal and spatial distribution of rainfall.

The rivers in our state which were flowing earlier till the end of April are now drying up in the month of February. This situation may further worsen in the time ahead. The Odisha government has taken a revolutionary step for sustainable water management by taking up construction of in-stream storage structures (ISS) across various rivers to store water inside the streams.
