Fresh low-pressure area likely around August 18

A fresh low-pressure area is expected to develop over the northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal around August 18 and under its influence, heavy to very heavy rainfall, accompanied with thunderstorms and lightning, is very likely in several districts of Odisha August 18 and 19, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said Saturday.
"Due to the formation of a low-pressure area, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with thunderstorms and lightning, in various districts of Odisha between August 18 and 19," the regional centre of the IMD said.
