Wizards of Oz facing a battle

NEVER in my wildest dreams did I expect to see such a thing. Never did I expect to see cricket legend Graeme “Swanny” Swann and rugby legend Ben “Coheny” Cohen competing alongside names such as Jessika Power and Axle Whitehead, as they are on this eighth series of Celebrity SAS.

The main reason I didn’t expect it is I haven't a clue idea who Jessika Power and Axle Whitehead actually are.

Or at least I didn’t before I watched last night’s opening episode.

Until then, their names had prompted no reaction in me, other than (1) Why spell Jessica with a K? And (2) Who names their kid after a car part?

But it turns out these people are Australians, as are seven of the 14 “recruits” on this latest series. So that’s OK - in fact, quite a relief - because it means I needn't pretend to have heard of them.
