WE LOOK AT HOW REDS MAY LINE UP IN 2025-26

- By SARAH CLAPSON

GETTING over the Champions League line is the aim for Nottingham Forest as they approach their final six games of the Premier League season.

The Reds have given themselves a real opportunity to seal a return to Europe's grandest stage. But they need to put successive defeats behind them and get the job done.

It is not going to be easy as the chasing pack are breathing heavily down Forest's neck. Nuno Espirito Santo's men are up against teams and squads built for being in this exact position.

Injuries in recent weeks have stretched head coach Nuno's resources. The strength of the two benches when the Reds lost 2-1 at Aston Villa earlier this month showed the difference between the sides.

Forest made the trip to the West Midlands strikerless as both Chris Wood and Taiwo Awoniyi were sidelined, and they had to field a makeshift back line due to a shortage of full-backs made Villa, by comparison, changes to their starting line-up but still fielded a list of substitutes packed with quality - with the likes of Marcus Rashford and John McGinn among them - and were able to claim the three points.

Regardless of whether they qualify for the Champions League, the Reds face an important summer transfer window. If they are to push on again in 2025-26, the squad needs bolstering.

If a place in Europe is secured, the club's ideal scenario is to have the equivalent of two strong XIs to cope with competing on multiple fronts.
