University to consider axing 16 courses in spending cuts

THE University of Nottingham will suspend 16 courses as the cashstrapped institution continues to make spending cuts.

The Russell Group university has announced it will not be admitting any new students on a variety of different courses, such as children's and mental health nursing, modern languages, and music, as it considers closing them permanently.
Undergraduate and postgraduate students already studying on the selected courses will be able to continue and complete their studies, the university has said, but foundation students will be required to select a different course.
The following will be suspended for the 2026/27 intake:
