NO OBJECTIONS, DESPITE 'POTENTIAL FOR CRAMPED LIVING CONDITIONS'

- By JOSEPH CONNOLLY Local democracy reporter

PLANS to house 10 people in a townhouse once built originally to have three bedrooms have been submitted to Mansfield District Council.

The property, at 13 Princes Street, has recently been converted from a three-bed home to a six-bed HMO (house in multiple occupation).

Under permitted development laws, the owner of the house, who bought the property in June for £126,000, could do this without asking the council first.

But to have more than six people living there needs direct permission from officials.

Applicant Rebekah Poliszczuk of Paisley Grace property submitted the request on Monday, September 15. The application says: “The proposal aims to provide high quality, affordable accommodation, addressing the growing demand for shared housing in Mansfield.”
