With the cost of living crisis continuing to bite, a trip to Nottingham's annual Christmas extravaganza isn't going to be cheap. But traders say they are trying to keep prices reasonable, despite facing higher costs themselves.

IT’S the most wonderful time of the year - Nottingham’s Winter Wonderland is back, attracting hundreds of thousands of people from all over the country.

The East Midlands’ best festive market has plenty to offer with shopping, eating, drinking and all-round revelry, from ice skating to a trip on the Observation Wheel with views of the crowds milling around below.

But, as everyone knows, these events don’t come cheap, so here's our guide to prices to help visitors determine how to spend their money.

Setting prices is a fine balancing act for traders, who need to make a profit but don’t want to scare people away if the cost is too high.

Tracey Robinson, whose family is running the Gourmet Burger stall, has set the price at £7.50.

She said: “We're trying to keep everything as low-cost as we can but obviously at the same time we've got to make some sort of profit, it’s got to be beneficial to do it.

“Stock is quite expensive. It’s gone from a reasonable price since before Covid to extortionate. It’s trying to keep that balance of not too expensive but you've got to go home with a little bit but, yes, we're trying to keep it reasonable.

“As a family of four you don’t want to be spending £50 on four burgers, do you?”

The costliest food we spotted at the market is the Cluck & Smash burger, served in the Alpine bar, Sur La Piste.

The buttermilk chicken and smashed beef patty with bacon in a brioche bun is priced £19.95.
