CHILDREN with special educational needs and disabilities (Send) are to see plans setting out their right to support reviewed under Government reforms.

The BBC and The Times have reported that from 2029, Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs), which are legal documents setting out the support children with Send are entitled to, will be reassessed once children reach the end of primary school. The Government reforms, which will be published in the Schools White Paper, are expected to introduce a plan with legal footing for all children with Send, called Individual Support Plans (ISPs).

The BBC reported there will be three tiers of support – targeted, targeted plus and specialist.

Specialist support plans will be the highest level of support for the most complex needs.

The Press Association understands the support thresholds will be needs-based, rather than naming specific conditions.
