Rise in hospital parking charges ‘a tax on ill people and their families’

PARKING charges have been increased at Nottingham’s hospitals.

Patients and visitors pay more for spots at Queen's Medical Centre and City Hospital following changes made earlier this month.

Nottingham University Hospitals (NUH) said the hike, the first in seven years, was being made to match inflation.

Campaign group Keep Our NHS Public (KONP) has opposed the increase, describing it as a “in effect a tax on ill people and their families”.

Hospital parking was free during the Covid pandemic before being reintroduced in summer 2022, along with an automatic number plate recognition barrier system.
