'Regret' as curtain company ceases trading

A DECADES-old Nottinghamshire firm has made all of its staff redundant and entered liquidation after unsuccessful attempts to find a rescue deal.

Home Curtains UK Limited, established in 1986 and based in Sutton-in-Ashfield, appointed administrators in January this year.

PKF Smith Cooper, which was tasked with sorting out the affairs of the Stoney Street importer and retailer of curtains, accessories and lace, said it had struggled to weather higher inflation and lower customer spending. Previously a director of Home Curtains said they hoped to “preserve some part of the business” and prevent its liquidation, but PKF has now confirmed this has not been possible and that the nearly 40-year-old business will soon cease to exist.
