Office manager admits theft of almost £19k from charity

AN office manager at a charity which provides a community space abused her role to steal almost £19,000 from it.
Between November 2017 and December 2023, mum-of-three Danielle Elliott helped herself to £18,723.19, which belonged to Cotgrave Futures. The 33-year-old, of Bingham, was due to be sentenced for her crime when she appeared at Nottingham Magistrates' Court last week. But after reading the papers, the chair of the bench told the short hearing that she felt the court's sentencing powers were insufficient and instead committed the case to Nottingham Crown Court on a future date.
She said: "It is an abuse of trust but looking at the sentencing guidelines, I think the starting point is too high for this court.
