QUIRKIEST SHOP IN CITY'S OVER-THE-TOP JOY AT LOCAL LORE

- By LYNETTE PINCHESS

MIRROR, mirror on the wall... where's the quirkiest Nottingham-themed shop of all?

That would be Notts So Faraway, dedicated to independent traders, antiques, handmade goods and oddities, with a playful take on fairy tales and folklore, and a very local flavour.

The immersive concept, which opened on Saturday, is tucked away on the top floor at Hopkinson, the vintage and antiques shop with a bar in Station Street.

"Every nook and cranny is whimsical. I've gone so OTT sourcing props," said Ash Hudson, of Silver Fox, which operates all three floors of the shop.

"There's a cheeky bit of panto mixed in. We have based it all around individual sellers and makers, focusing heavily on handmade products as well for the Nottingham element of it."

Whether you're after original Robin Hood half-marathon souvenirs made out of Nottingham Lace, an Ay Up Me Duck mug, or Nottingham Forest memorabilia, this is the place you'll find it. There's even a £1,200 suit of armour in a nod to the days of old.
