'No reason' for officials to remain for longer

NOTTINGHAM City Council's deputy leader says there is 'no reason' why the commissioners paid more than £1,000 a day for overseeing the authority will need to stay longer than planned.

The team of three government-appointed officials were first sent to Nottingham City Council months after it effectively declared bankruptcy by issuing a Section 114 notice.
Issues faced by the authority at the time included huge gaps in its budget and high levels of debt compared to other councils.
