A LESS-than-memorable friendly defeat quickly turned into the biggest of statements from Nottingham Forest with an announcement shortly after the final whistle.
The Reds’ 3-1 loss to Fulham in Portugal was largely typical preseason fare. But what followed was one of the most stunning surprises of the summer so far.
The Morgan Gibbs-White saga has been full of twists and turns in the short period of time it has been running amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur. And here was another one, with news Forest's star man had penned fresh terms.
Forest confirmed Gibbs-White had agreed a three-year contract not long after their encounter with the Cottagers had finished. Not only did it kill the transfer talk stone dead, it might turn out to be the development that sparks the club’s summer into life.
It has been a slow start to the transfer window at the City Ground. In a tough market, the Reds have found it challenging.
Brazilian duo Igor Jesus and Jair Cunha remain the club’s only signings to date. More are certainly needed.
