New Forest revamp plans go in

Forest have officially submitted their latest City Ground redevelopment plans after making changes to the project.Work could start on the multi-million-pound redevelopment in the summer, subject to approval by Rushcliffe Borough Council.

Fans had their first chance to look at the plans - which could potentially take the capacity of the stadium to more than 50,000 - at a public consultation held in December.

The club confirmed yesterday that the latest proposals had now officially been lodged with the authority after originally hoping to submit them in the middle of last month.

The new plans envisage a much bigger City Ground than originally intended when initial proposals were unveiled in 2019.

The council approved earlier plans last summer for the expansion of the Peter Taylor Stand and other significant work.

Under the new proposals, the Reds hope to increase capacity of the stand and make further improvements to other parts of the ground.

The new Peter Taylor Stand would be 58 metres tall and the overall capacity could end up being 52,500 - although the initial focus of the plans will be on getting capacity to 45,000.
