Maynard believes battle for promotion will go right to the wire

IT has not been plain sailing for Notts County recently in their promotion fight but their rivals have experienced similar results in an open division.

Many said at the start of this season that League Two is as open as it has been for some time, and that has been demonstrated in a promotion race where no-one has stood out so far in the run-in.

The Magpies have had their fair share of struggles, hampered by how much the line-up has changed from earlier in the season.

Departures and injuries to key players have heavily influenced that but Magpies head coach Stuart Maynard has maintained that his side are performing to the required standard despite concerns from some sections of the fanbase.

"I give the same answer but we just take it one game at a time," said Maynard ahead of tomorrow's away game against Newport County (3pm).

"The minute one game is over, we review it and work out how to improve, and then we're onto the next.
