Map shows clearer view of how city could look after shake-up

THREE BOROUGHS WILL BE SPLIT IN TWO UNDER COUNCIL'S OWN 'BESPOKE' OPTION
A NEW map has confirmed the areas of Nottinghamshire that would effectively be cut in two under city council plans previously called a “land grab” by some.
Rushcliffe, Gedling and Broxtowe would all be split in half under Nottingham City Council’s plans for a radical shakeup of boundaries.
The plans were first publicly revealed in August, but graphics produced at the time were unclear as to the areas that the city’s boundaries could extend to cover.
The Labour-run city council has now produced a new map showing exactly where its new proposed boundaries could fall.
The expansion of Nottingham could mean rural Rushcliffe villages such as East Leake and Bunny joining a new city council.
Other areas of Rushcliffe, including Tithby and Colston Bassett, could then be lumped into a new county council with areas such as Mansfield and Ashfield.
Gedling would also be split down the middle, separating Arnold from Calverton, and the very northern parts of Broxtowe could also be broken off from the rest of the borough.
