Long wait is over for town's first Lidl

MORE THAN 1,200 SIGN PETITION AS WETHERSPOON PLACES THE ERNEHALE ON MARKET
A DECISION has been made on plans for a long-awaited new Lidl to be built in Worksop after previous attempts failed.
The supermarket chain has been trying to construct its first branch in Worksop for nearly 10 years, with a planning application for a Lidl to be built off Carlton Road originally submitted in 2017.
Proposals that included a new supermarket were repeatedly rejected by planning authority Bassetlaw District Council, with its third attempt to set up in the town thwarted in 2023.
