THEY DRANK WINE AND HAD INTERCOURSE AT SCOTS HOTEL

- By RUCSANDRA MOLDOVEANU

A TEACHER who had sex “on a number of occasions” with a former pupil has been banned from the profession for life.

Benjamin Steven Hiscox, now 34, was a maths teacher at South Nottinghamshire Academy in Radcliffe-on-Trent from 2020, when allegations were first made that he had a sexual relationship with a girl he taught during his training in Scotland.

The training year took place at Madras College in St Andrews, where the girl - referred to as Pupil A - was a student.

The relationship was initially investigated by Police Scotland after the girl's parents became aware of it, followed by a referral to the Teaching Regulation Agency (TRA).

A TRA report released on Friday said that Pupil A followed Hiscox on Instagram before the two started talking there.

The conversations “quickly” turned sexual and were followed by the pair meeting at a hotel in October 2022. Hiscox arranged and paid for the hotel.

A police statement from the pupil included in the report says that Hiscox sent her “all sorts of videos”, including sexually explicit footage.
