Kiddey Stones back on display

ARTIST'S SCULPTURES UNVEILED OUTSIDE COUNCIL HQ AFTER 40 YEARS IN STORAGE

A SET of stone sculptures that have been in storage “under a tarpaulin” for four decades have been unveiled to the public in Newark.

The Kiddey Stones, designed by sculptor Robert Kiddey, depict electricity production throughout history.

The four panels are made up of 12 stones that collectively weigh more than eight tonnes, and they were at Wilford Power Station before it was demolished in the 1980s.

They had been sitting under tarpaulin in Newark’s cemetery for around 40 years, before Newark and Sherwood District Council moved them to its Castle House HQ as part of a new art trail.

An event was held at Castle House on Thursday where the sculptures were unveiled.

Lindah Kiddey, the wife of Robert's great-nephew, attended the event.
