TRIBUNAL HEARS OF ABORTION AFTER DOCTOR'S MISDIAGNOSIS
A NOTTINGHAMSHIRE woman's "likely healthy" baby was aborted following a doctor's "devastating" misdiagnosis.
The 32-year-old expectant mum was given pregnancy-ending medication at King's Mill Hospital on the advice of Dr Mohammad Mohammad, who believed she had an ectopic pregnancy.
An ectopic pregnancy is when a fertilised egg implants itself outside of the womb, usually in one of the fallopian tubes, and cannot develop into a baby. Follow-up tests revealed the condition had been misdiagnosed, however the woman was told the medication - methotrexate - was irreversible, leading to her miscarriage.
A tribunal heard the expectant mum was devastated by the mistake, and said in an online complaint: "I have likely lost a healthy baby."
