Green light for A46 Bypass improvements

A £500 million plan to add extra lanes and a flyover to improve traffic on the A46 Newark Bypass has been given the go-ahead.

The government has given the green-light to a scheme by National Highways for the busy route, which is used by around 17,000 drivers every day.

Under the plans, parts of the single-lane road north of Newark will be turned into a dual carriageway, something the highways agency says will remove the bottleneck of traffic around the area and make the route safer for cyclists and pedestrians.
