Flammable cladding to be removed from 'high risk' city centre flats

URGENT repairs will be made to a high-rise building where residents are currently at risk due to construction defects.

Nottingham City Council has approved plans to remove flammable cladding from The Atrium, a 10-storey residential block of flats on Waterfront Plaza off Station Street, in the city centre.

An examination of the 109-home tower had previously found there was a high risk that fire could spread across its external walls due to “large areas of combustible insulation and defective or missing fire barriers”.

Owner MRP was told by the city council on Thursday, July 24, that it was allowed to proceed with removing the dangerous material from the residential building.
