SECOND INCIDENT IN A MONTH

- By MARTIN NAYLOR martin.naylor@reachplc.com

A DRINK-DRIVER caused a high-speed head-on crash while three times the limit, leaving a volunteer worker with a broken leg.

Nottingham Crown Court heard how after badly injuring the woman and her father, who was driving Martin Mukuvari then tried to flee from the scene.

Less than a month earlier, the 37-year-old, of Hucknall, had been caught drink-driving during a separate incident in which he crashed into a ditch and ended up in hospital.

Imposing a 14-month jail term, suspended for 18 months, Judge James Sampson said: "I have read the victim's personal statement and this incident has had a highly significant impact on her.

"She was in constant pain due to a metal plate which had to be fitted, she had anxiety and she was unable to do the voluntary work which she very much enjoyed.
