THUGS USED BELTS AS WEAPONS IN BRAWL BEFORE CAR WAS AIMED AT BLAMELESS VICTIM
A DRIVER mounted a pavement and deliberately mowed down a peacemaker following violence outside a pub in the early hours of Christmas Day.
Shocking CCTV footage played at Nottingham Crown Court showed Luke Upton career into the victim who suffered multiple fractures to his leg and who, two-and-a-half years on said he “continues to deal with the consequences every day.
Moments earlier Upton and co-defendant Keegan Marriott used their belts as weapons on a rival group, strangling their entirely blameless crash victim with one of them.
Sentencing the pair, Judge James Sampson said: “It was December 25, 2022, it was at night outside a bar and you, Marriott were drunk and became aggressive, violent and were posturing, kicking and punching, before getting a weapon, a belt. There was nothing in (the victim's) body language to suggest he was aggressive
