THE love for a small family-run cafe in Beeston shines like a beacon. You only have to read the reviews. One man said: “I always make a beeline for this place when I am in the area. The food is delicious and there is a homely feeling. Coffee is fresh and served with a smile. I cannot wait until my next visit.”

He's not alone in praising Christine's Delights at the far end of High Road.

“Such a beautiful little place to get a cuppa and cake or lunch. Ran with such care and a lovely ambience,” said another visitor.

The combination of superb homemade food and warm welcoming service has made this local gem the winner of Nottinghamshire Live's Best Cafe in the Notts Bites awards.

We had to delay the announcement until now as the cafe was closed for the family's annual holiday in Greece but on learning the news owners Christina Karavacsili and Michail Delimaras said they were overwhelmed and it hadn't sunk in yet.
