AFTER £75K SCHEME, PLANS TO SELL BANNER SPACES TO BUSINESS

- By LOUIS CORBETT

THE Union Flags that have appeared throughout Nottinghamshire at a total cost of £75,000 will be taken down and replaced with adverts.

The Reform UK scheme was previously earmarked as a way to "strengthen community spirit", with 164 brackets being used for Union Flags, but it has now been announced that the flags will be taken down so Nottinghamshire County Council can rent out the brackets to businesses.

The breakdown of the total cost amounts to £75,000, which includes £16,000 for the flag banners and £32,000 for the brackets, which may be used in the future to support advertisements.

In a statement, Councillor Mick Barton, Reform leader of the county council, said: "We are progressing plans to sell these banner spaces as potential advertising space to businesses and partners.
