£300k study into tram expansion pushed back

A MAJOR study looking into the extension of Nottingham's tram network has been delayed.

Three possible locations for new routes were identified when the £300,000 feasibility study was announced back in March, with authorities saying at the time the report should take between three to six months to complete.

Over six months later, the study has yet to be commissioned, with the authority behind it saying it had been "deferred".

The East Midlands Combined County Authority (EMCCA), the devolved authority covering Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire led by East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward, was behind the commissioning of the study.

A spokesperson for the authority confirmed it had been pushed back so that work including the development of a broader transport plan could be completed first.
