Treble hopes dashed as Barum lose to Brixham
North Devon Journal
|May 08, 2025
ARNSTAPLE'S hopes of an unprecedented treble came to an end when they bowed out of the Papa John's Community Championship to Brixham at the quarter-final stage.
Roared on by a crowd of close to 3,000 spectators, Although Barnstaple triumphed 24-18 the second leg at Pottington Road.
Sadly, that was not enough to overturn Brixham's nine-point lead from the first leg, which they won 47-38.
Standing between Brixham and Twickenham are Oundle, who visit Astley Park this Saturday for a one-off semi-final. There are no second chances in the last four.
Barnstaple went into the match with the One South West title and the Devon Senior Cup stashed away. They were aiming for a return trip to Twickenham, where the lost to Heath RFC in last season's final, to complete a trophy hat-trick.
