LIC posts higher profit as premiums rise

Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India, the country's largest insurer, reported a 32% rise in second-quarter profit on Thursday, driven by higher premiums from renewed and single-payment policies along with a decline in commission expenses.

LIC's profit after tax rose to ₹10,053 crore for the quarter ended 30 September, from ₹7,621 crore a year earlier.
