Heavy rains cause fresh flooding in Northern India, Pakistan

Heavy rain in the Himalayas continued to lash Northern India and neighbouring Pakistan on Thursday with flooding of homes and highways worsening as major rivers overflowed.

Although weather officials in India forecast some respite from downpours later in the day, Pakistan has warned that rain is expected to continue until 9 September.
