Small drug firms must apply online for GMP extension

Small pharma companies can file an online application if they want to take one more year to comply with global good manufacturing practices (GMPs), said the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) on Wednesday.
Applications must be submitted via the Online National Drugs Licensing System portal (ONDLS). No hard copy application would be considered by the Central Licensing Authority.
The Centre has extended the GMP compliance timeline to 31 December 2025, after the previous deadline ended last December. The decision was taken as most drug companies could not upgrade their plants in line with the World Health Organization standards.
