EU Fast-Tracks Free Trade Talks With India

May 20, 2025

The European Union (EU) has fast-tracked talks on a free trade agreement (FTA) with India, with the possibility of an early harvest deal being announced soon.

- Rajeev Jayaswal

Negotiators from both sides are meeting in Brussels this week to advance this objective, just days after concluding the 11th negotiating round in New Delhi on Friday, people aware of the development said.

The EU doesn't want to be left out after its erstwhile member, the UK, successfully concluded free trade negotiations with India on May 6, and bilateral trade talks between the US and India are at an advanced stage, the people said, requesting anonymity.
