Why Marriott Intl is bullish on Indian hospitality sector

Marriott plans to expand its India room inventory from 30,000 to 50,000 within 5 years, mostly in luxury segment

Marriott International aims to increase the number of rooms to 50,000 in India, from about 30,000 it currently operates, within five years as the US-based hospitality firm is upbeat on rising prosperity and booming domestic tourism in the third-largest economy in Asia.

Rajeev Menon, Marriott International's president for the Asia Pacific region (excluding China), said India remains in "pretty sound state" for the company's hospitality business. Hotel operators have seen robust returns in the past couple of years, as people went on a revenge travel after being confined to homes for more than two years since the covid-led lockdown of March 2020.
