The Centre plans to roll out a revamped rural jobs guarantee scheme across India from April, and states will need to prepare their implementation plans within six months of the proposed law taking effect.
The bills seeks to provide 125 days of wage employment.

Rural development and agriculture minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan introduced the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VBGRAM G) Bill, 2025 in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, which will replace the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), 2005, amid Opposition protests.
