Hamas frees all living Israeli hostages

October 14, 2025

Hamas freed all 20 remaining living Israeli hostages from the Gaza Strip on Monday morning, following a US-led deal reached late last week.

- Bloomberg

The Palestinian militant group handed them to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in two batches. Israel received the first seven hostages around 8:45 a.m. local time and the final 13 were released to the ICRC roughly two hours later. Israel's military later confirmed those 13 were in Israeli territory.

Israel is yet to comment on the condition of any hostages after more than two years in captivity.

Around the same time, Israel began freeing jailed Palestinians. There were scenes of jubilation in cities such as Ramallah in the West Bank and Khan Younis in Gaza as they got out of buses to be met by cheering crowds.
