Price controls set on 80 essential drugs

The drug price regulator has brought 80 new drugs and formulations under price control.
The drug price regulator has brought 80 new drugs and formulations under price control. These drugs include those used for the treatment of bacterial infection, high blood pressure, diabetes and allergies, among other important drugs such as blood thinners, steroids, according to the minutes of the regulator's meeting on 25 March that Mint has accessed, and one senior official aware of the matter who spoke on condition of anonymity. The move will make these drugs cheaper for patients.
As part of the plan of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), all drug manufacturers will have to revise the prices of these formulations downward. Those not complying will have to deposit the overcharged amount with the government.
