Supreme Court to hear pleas against EC's nationwide voter roll revision on Nov 11

Bench to take up petitions challenging SIR amid Bihar voter roll controversy

The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear on November 11 a set of petitions challenging the Election Commission's (EC) decision to carry out a pan-India Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

A bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi said the hearing would begin on November 11 after advocate Prashant Bhushan, representing the NGO Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR), urged the court to take up the matter, calling it one that “goes to the root of democracy.”
