SC bars trial court from taking note of chargesheet against Ashoka University professor, quashes FIR

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered that the trial court in Haryana must not take cognisance of the chargesheet filed against Ashoka University professor Ali Khan Mahmudabad in connection with his social media posts on Operation Sindoor.
The court also took note of the closure report filed in the other FIR and ordered the quashing of all related proceedings.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi also restrained the trial court from framing charges in the case. The order came while hearing pleas concerning two FIRs lodged against the professor earlier this year.
