No deadline extension for Waqf registration, 3 month-reprieve for those who tried but couldn't

Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Friday ruled out extending the deadline for uploading Waqf property details on the UMEED portal, even as he announced temporary relief for those who attempted registration but could not complete it.
Such applicants, he said, would face no penalties for the next three months.
By Friday morning, 1.51 lakh properties had been registered on the portal. Rijiju noted that the six-month window for filing details, mandated under provisions governing the Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development portal launched on June 6, ends on Friday. The initiative aims to create a digital inventory after geotagging all Waqf properties nationwide.
