I&B Ministry summons Netflix content head over IC-814 series row

The Central government has summoned the content head of Netflix India over the series "IC814: The Kandahar Hijack," which has ignited a controversy regarding the portrayal of the hijackers involved in the 1999 hijacking of an Indian Airlines flight by Pakistan-based terror group Harkat-ul-Mujahideen.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has called for a meeting on Tuesday to seek an explanation for the allegedly contentious aspects of the OTT series, which many claim misrepresents the hijackers.
The series has stirred controversy by presenting the hijackers in what some viewers describe as a “humane” light. This depiction has been met with outrage, particularly from those who feel that it disrespects the sentiments of the nation. "Nobody has the right to play with the sentiments of the people of this nation.
Indian culture and civilization should always be respected,” an official source stated.
