HC acquits Dera chief Ram Rahim in murder case of sect's ex-manager

The Punjab and Haryana High Court on Tuesday acquitted Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and four others in the 2002 murder case of the sect's former manager, Ranjit Singh.

Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, the leader of the Sirsa-headquartered sect, is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for raping two of his disciples. He is incarcerated at Sunaria jail in Rohtak, Haryana.
"The high court has acquitted him and four others in the Ranjit Singh murder case," stated Jitender Khurana, the Dera chief's lawyer.
He explained that the arguments in the case had concluded earlier, and the verdict was pronounced by the high court on Tuesday.
